BISE Abbottabad was established in 1990 under the KPK Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act. Its headquarters is in Abbottabad city — a hill station at 1,260 metres elevation that most Pakistanis recognise from its unique geographic identity. The board covers the entire Hazara Division plus Torghar — a newly created district that was separated from Swabi in 2011.
