BISE Peshawar was established in 1961 — making it KPK’s oldest board and one of the oldest in Pakistan. Its jurisdiction covers the provincial capital Peshawar along with four other districts, including the geographically unique Chitral — the northernmost district in KPK, bordering Afghanistan and China’s Xinjiang province. Students from Chitral travel through mountain passes to appear in examinations, making BISE Peshawar one of the most geographically diverse boards in the country.
In 2025, 101,888 students appeared in 9th class. 61,753 passed — a pass rate of approximately 60.6%. This is notably better than most Punjab boards, where pass rates ranged from 43% to 57%.

Passing marks in KPK: 33% per subject — not 40%. KPK boards have not yet adopted the new 40% threshold that Punjab implemented from 2025. This matters. A student scoring 35 in a subject fails under Punjab rules but passes under BISE Peshawar rules.

33 marks out of 100 per subject — this is the KPK passing threshold. Unlike Punjab boards which moved to 40% from 2025, KPK boards including BISE Peshawar still follow the 33% rule.

Each subject must be passed individually. But the bar is lower than Punjab — which means KPK students have a realistic path to passing even in subjects where they struggle.

After Your Result
You passed: Your school distributes official result cards within 2 to 3 weeks. Keep the original card for intermediate college admission in KPK. Peshawar’s colleges have competitive merit lists — result day is when the admission race begins.
You failed in one or two subjects: BISE Peshawar holds a 2nd annual examination every year — the supplementary exam. It is announced shortly after the main result and usually held 2 to 3 months later. You appear only in the failed subjects.

BISE Peshawar 9th Class Position Holders 2026
Unlike Punjab boards where position holders are announced one day before the result, BISE Peshawar typically announces position holders on the same day as the result — during the morning ceremony before results go live online.
Out of 101,888 students who appeared in 2025, the top scorers in Science and Arts groups are selected based on total marks. Peshawar city’s well-established schools — both government and private — consistently produce position holders, but students from Charsadda and Mohmand have also appeared in the top three in recent years.
Position holders receive medals, cash prizes, and certificates at the board ceremony in Peshawar.
